The 2012 Lexus LS 460 is a full-size luxury sedan with seating for five. The LS 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 357 hp and 344 lb-ft of torque. The 8-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission can be paired with either RWD or full time AWD. An extended length L trim is available in both drivetrains. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 16 mpg city to 24 mpg highway, depending on drivetrain selection. Features include advanced parking guidance system, 19-inch wheels, adaptive front lighting system, intuitive parking assist, dynamic radar cruise control, backup camera, power trunk closer, and power door closer. Safety is comprised of advanced airbags, electronic controlled braking, pre-collision system, driver attention monitor, vehicle stability features, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. The LS 460 is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.
Although a little more conservative in look and feel than some others in its class, the LS sedans still deliver some of the world's top technology features. The LS460--and especially the LS600h--serve as the luxury and technology flagship for the Lexus line. The LS brings all of Lexus' technology and luxury know-how into a complete package--a full-size luxury sedan that is both exceedingly quiet, very powerful and in the case of the LS600h, cutting-edge hybrid tech.
Nebula Gray Pearl paint has been added for 2012. Smoky Granite Mica has been dropped. A USB port and rear-seat headphone jacks have been added. Otherwise, the LS carries over very similar to last year's model.
The Lexus LS 460 has a quiet, yet strong personality, featuring a 380-horsepower, 4.6L V8 and very smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard for this big luxury sedan, but all-wheel drive is available (the same 4.6L engine is rated at 357 hp when optioned with all-wheel drive). Then there's also the all-wheel-drive LS 600h, which serves as the tech flagship for the Lexus lineup. It combines a 5.0L V8 engine with a strong electric-motor system and large-capacity battery pack. Both models are capable of getting to 60 mph in about five and a half seconds. Fuel economy is actually quite good for a large luxury car in either model: the LS 460 gets 16 mpg city, 24 highway, while the LS 600h gets 20 city/22 highway.
