Sporting a refreshed exterior and interior, the 2013 Lincoln MKS is a full-size luxury sedan available in FWD and AWD drivetrains. The base MKS is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. For increased performance, Lincoln offers an optional EcoBoost trim level, equipped with a 3.5-liter twin turbo direct injection V6 engine that yields 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired to the same 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle activation. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 17 mpg city to 28 mpg highway, depending on engine and drivetrain selection. Features include dual chrome exhaust tips, 20-inch wheels, dual-panel moonroof, leather trimmed seats, heated front seats, cooled front seats, capless fuel filler, SYNC technology, voice activated navigation, rear view camera, adaptive HID headlamps with auto high beams, and rear window power sunshade. Safety is comprised of active park assist, dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain airbags, anti-lock braking (ABS), AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control (ESC), and SOS Post Crash Alert System. The MKS is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.
The 2013 Lincoln MKS is a full-size luxury sedan that appeals to those who want an extremely well-equipped, comfort-oriented and technology-loaded sedan. Before its 2013 redesign it was already a formidable rival to the likes of the Volvo S80, Lexus ES 350 and Acura TL, but with its new continuously damping suspension and Drive Control interface--plus a host of active safety features--it sets its sights on the tech prowess of top German sport sedans...if not quite in all-out performance, in features and interior appointments.
The Lincoln MKS has been extensively refreshed for 2013, with an updated exterior design, more engine power, improved fuel economy, a quieter interior, a new instrument panel and newly available accident avoidance systems. Additionally, the MKS gets much-improved ride-and-handling sophistication, thanks to a new Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) system and Lincoln Drive Control interface, with modes that let the driver fine-tune aspects like ride firmness, steering feel and throttle response.
The MKS is now offered with two different engines: a 3.7L V6, making 300 horsepower and 275 pound-feet, or a 3.5L turbocharged ?EcoBoost' V6 making 365 hp and 350 pound-feet. The base engine uses Ford's Ti-VCT variable cam timing system for smoothness and efficiency and Lincoln promises V8-caliber performance from the EcoBoost engine. All MKS models come with a 6-speed automatic transmission--now featuring a mode for full driver control--and while base V6 models can be had with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, all EcoBoost models have all-wheel drive.
