Now equipped with hands-free phone capabilities and upgraded sound, the 2013 Toyota Matrix is a five-door hatchback that offers two different engine options; a standard 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 132 hp/128 lb-ft of torque and a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp/162 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can choose between standard FWD or optional AWD. Transmission options consist of a 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic and 5-speed automatic. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 21 mpg city and 32 mpg highway depending on engine, transmission and drivetrain selection. Features are comprised of 18-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, fold-flat front passenger seat, remote keyless entry, premium sound system, hands-free phone capability and DVD navigation system. Safety is comprised of dual-stage airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, two-row side curtain airbags, anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), vehicle stability control and traction control (TCS). What's new for 2013?

The Matrix carries into 2013 with few changes. The stereo has been upgraded for both the base and S versions. Both now feature hands free Bluetooth technology as well as iPod integration. The S model gets a 6.1-inch screen set in the dash, while the base model now has six speakers.
