All new for 2013, the Mercedes Benz SL-Class is a hardtop luxury roadster that comes standard with a 429 hp producing 4.6-liter V8 engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission. The RWD SL550 gets an EPA estimated 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. For those who crave performance the SL63 offers all the luxury of the standard SL blended with AMG performance. The SL63 AMG comes equipped with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 530 hp while the SL65 AMG 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 yields 621 hp. Options include distronic adaptive cruise control, panorama roof, multi-contour ventilated seats, sport steering-wheel, premium sound, hands-free phone capabilities, navigation, heated/cooled seats, and a 40GB hard drive. Safety features are comprised of active body control, pop-up roll-bar, anti-lock braking system (ABS), brake assist (BA), multi-link suspension, and 7-way airbag protection. Model Review

The biggest change for the 2013 SL-Class is its redesigned chassis. 'SL' originally stood for 'sporty lightweight' and Mercedes-Benz has taken that designation to heart redesigning the model. The biggest factor in this change has been the extensive use of aluminum in the chassis. The end result is a body shell that weighs 242 lbs. less than that of its predecessor, all while improving chassis rigidity and stiffness. This reduction of weight is highly unusual among car manufacturers and pays large dividends in vehicle performance.
