Sporting revised exterior and interior styling, the 2013 Audi S4 is a compact luxury sports sedan variant of the A4. The S4 is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that produces 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, for a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds. The permanent AWD drivetrain can be paired with either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 7-speed dual-clutch�automatic�transmission. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 18 mpg city to 28 mpg highway, depending on transmission selection. Features include sports rear differential, adaptive xenon headlights, LED turn signals, LED taillights, 19-inch alloy wheels, carbon fiber inlays, heated front seats, leather seats with Alcantara� inserts, sunroof with sliding functions, three-zone automatic climate control, iPod�/iPhone� integration, navigation system, and 14-speaker sound system. Safety is comprised of parking sensors, dual-stage front airbags, side thorax airbags, head curtain airbags, electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, anti-lock braking, and brake assist. What's new for 2013?

For 2013, the Audi A4 lineup gets some slight changes inside and out, including new interior and exterior color combinations. On the outside, the A4 gets a more slender headlight design, new 'Singleframe' grille design and a strip of LED lights adjacent to the headlights with the xenon headlamp option. The taillight design is also new, with LED lamps and the hood and bumpers have been redesigned. Inside, the A4 gets a new high-gloss finish and 'alu-optic' soft keys for the MMI interface and the Audi Connect system is paired with MMI Navigation Plus. Also available (and standard on the S4) is a new 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and alu-optic shift paddles on the automatic.

Model Review

What do the Safety Ratings mean?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests:

Driver Crash Grade:

Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury.

Passenger Crash Grade:

Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger.

Rollover Resistance:

Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover.

Side Impact Crash Test - Front:

Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.

Side Impact Crash Test - Rear:

Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
