The refreshed 2013 Audi Q5 is a compact luxurycrossover SUVavailable with two different engines. The base Q5 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 211 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. For upgraded performance, Audi offers an optional 3.2-liter V6 engine that produces 270 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. The permanent 4-wheel drive system can be paired with either a 6-speed automatic transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission for an EPA estimated range of 18 mpg city to 28 mpg highway, depending on engine selection. New or 2013 are the introduction of power steering and flex-fuel (E85) capability. Features include xenon headlights, LED tail lights, heated side mirrors, steering wheel controls, leather seating, panorama sunroof, heated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, HD radio, Bang & Olufsen Sound System, navigation system, and iPod/iPhone integration. Safety is comprised of advanced airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake-pressure distribution (EBD), and brake assist (BA). The Q5 is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.
With the 2.0 TFSI engine and 8-speed automatic, the 2013 Audi Q5 performs similarly to its V6-equipped big brother while being much more fuel-efficient. The standard Q5 has an EPA highway rating of 27 mpg. The Q5 has the longest wheelbase in its class and that gives it an especially smooth, settled ride. With the new supercharged 3.0L V6, the Q5 has an excellent towing capacity as well. The Q5's rear-biased quattro all-wheel drive system brings more driving enjoyment than is typical for enthusiasts and those who might rather be driving a sport sedan, while the interior has just as much versatility and flexibility as other utility vehicles in this class. Add to the mix a new 2.0L hybrid, and the appeal of the 2013 Audi Q5 is hard to ignore.
The Audi Q5 receives some minor updates inside and out for 2013. For starters, the front grille has been tweaked, as have the Q5 wheel options. Three new interior colors and upholstery choices are available, while the steering wheel has also been updated. The biggest changes come in the engine bay. The turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder carries over, while a 272-hp supercharged 3.0L V6 replaces the naturally aspirated 3.2L V6. A hybrid drivetrain is also new, which utilizes the Q5's standard 2.0L turbo and an electric motor to produce 245 hp and 354-ft-lb of torque. EPA estimates peg the hybrid's return at 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway. All Q5s now benefit from an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Q5 hybrid starts at $51,795.
The 2013 Audi Q5 is offered with two different engines. A 211-horsepower, 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a new supercharged 272-hp, 3.0L V6. Both are mated to an 8-speed Titronic automatic transmission, and both feature Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system, which sends about 60 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels under most driving conditions; on slippery surfaces or for better stability, the system will reapportion torque as needed. The 2.0L also helps to power the new hybrid model, and is paired with an electric motor. Together, the system is capable of an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.
