Overview

What's New in the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage?

The entry-level ES trim receives automatic climate control as standard. (Rivals make do with air conditioning, which is less sophisticated.) See the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage models for sale near you

Which Mirage is the Best?

There seems little point in splashing out more money on a swishier version of a budget car, so look at the LE for the automatic transmission and some useful extra features. Find a Mitsubishi Mirage for sale

How Much Does a 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage Cost?

The 5-seat 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage subcompact hatchback comes in ES, LE, SE and GT trim levels.

The ES trim ($14,990) starts with 14-in steel wheels, LED taillights, a rear spoiler, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, 60/40-split folding rear seats, a steering wheel that adjusts only for tilt, cruise control, a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat, a 4-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, split folding rear seats, cloth upholstery, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, a 7-in touchscreen and a 4-speaker audio system with an AM/FM radio, a CD/MP3 player, an auxiliary audio input and a USB port. The CVT is an extra $1,200.

The LE trim ($17,090) has the CVT as standard and adds 15-in alloy wheels with a black finish, black side mirror housings, a driver's seat armrest, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob with red stitching, a 6.5-in infotainment display and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration.

The SE trim ($17,640) loses the heated front seats and fits 14-in alloy wheels, but it adds keyless entry and ignition, fog lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and automatic climate control.

The GT trim ($18,190) regains the heated front seats and comes with 15-in alloy wheels in a 2-tone finish and bi-xenon HID headlights.

Options include interior lighting, a cargo mat, a cargo net and a 300-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system.

Cargo space is a Mirage specialty, measuring 17.2 cu ft behind the rear seats and a generous 47 cu ft with the seats folded down.

Mitsubishi Mirage Safety

Is the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage a Safe Car?

The Mirage comes standard with 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (discs up front, drums at the rear), stability control, hill-start assist and seven airbags (front, front-side, driver's-knee and full-length side-curtain).

In government crash tests, the Mirage earned four out of five stars overall, with four stars for side impact protection and four stars for rollover safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Mirage its highest rating of Good in four of five main categories, but the (tricky) small-overlap front impact test resulted in the second-lowest rating of Marginal on the driver's side. It hasn't been subjected to that test on the passenger side.

Competition

2020 Mitsubishi Mirage vs the competition

2020 Chevrolet Spark -- More enjoyable to drive than the Mirage and with a nicer interior.

2020 Nissan Versa -- If passenger space is a priority, the Versa sedan offers ample headroom and a massive back seat.

2020 Toyota Yaris -- Has a far more pleasant interior than the Mirage. Sedan only.

Used Honda Fit -- Dependable, spacious, versatile and economical, and has great resale values. Check out Honda's certified pre-owned program.
