2012 Bentley Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept - LA Auto Show

  • Persistent internet connection allows passengers to stay connected to outside world

At this year's LA Auto Show, Bentley has brought along a car most people probably would've figured to see at SEMA a couple weeks ago. The amount of technology in the back of the Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept certainly does feel more like West Coast Customs than OEM tech from Crewe, but that definitely doesn't take away from how impressive the technology is.

Embedded in new motorized tables on the back of the front seats is a pair of iPads and Apple wireless keyboards to help with responding to emails, some light web surfing or mobile gaming. Hanging from the headliner is a 15.6-inch HD monitor, which is connected to the Mac Mini media hub housed in the trunk. The monitor also plays a satellite TV signal picked up by the car's roof-mounted dish. Fighting over the remote has never been so opulent. The rear seat also provides plenty of places to plug in and charge your free-floating Apple iDevices, as well as an iPod touch for controlling such things as the rear reading lights and provides yet another internet portal.

In the more-physical-less-tech realm, an all-new drinks cooler allows the passengers to toast themselves on their latest large acquisition, and a bespoke Tibaldi pen allows them to sign any important contracts on the road.

All-in-all, the amount of technology packed in the back of this Mulsanne is extremely impressive, and definitely shows what is possible. However, we can only imagine the back seats light up like a Christmas tree at night with all those screens in it, and that whoever is tasked to drive this Mulsanne will be extremely jealous of their passengers.

What it means to you: While you may not require the sheer amount of connectivity the Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept offers, it's still a very interesting look at what is possible, even on a smaller scale.
