Hi, I’m Amanda Salas for AutoTrader here at the 2013 North American International Auto Show at the Cobo Center in Detroit, a city where performance automobiles have long been exciting the automotive world-at-large. Here’s a sampling of the high-performance thoroughbreds making their 2013 debut here in the Motor City.
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is making its long-anticipated debut here in Detroit and the 7th generation fiberglass icon has undergone a spectacular design update. The shark-inspired nose, sculptured side elements, and detailed rear flanks with an integrated spoiler will rock the sports car status quo to be sure. The new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette has performance to back up its outrageous looks and will be coming to Chevy dealers this fall.
Audi has added another model to its sensational R8 lineup: the V10 Plus, a 550-horsepower, 197 mile-per-hour mid-engined exotic that joins the fixed roof and Spyder in the R8 family. The all-alloy V10 is bolted up to Audi’s S-tronic, dual-clutch 7-speed transmission that sends every shred of horsepower to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system adapted to the sophisticated R8 running gear. The R8 V10 Plus will wear a sticker price of around $180,000 when it goes on sale this spring.
If you’re in the market for the fastest four-seat convertible in the world, Bentley has just the car you’re looking for: the 2013 GT Speed Convertible, packing a 616-horsepower W12 engine capable of sending the droptop to 202 miles-per-hour. Unmatched luxury and thundering performance are the GT Speed’s strong suits, but just be ready to write a check for $240,000 if you’d like to bring one home.
