2014 Nissan Rogue: Frankfurt Auto Show

What Is It?

The 2014 Nissan Rogue has been fully redesigned, and Nissan unveiled the new compact crossover today at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. Sharing most of its styling and parts with the overseas Nissan X-Trail, the new Rogue features available 3-row seating, which is an unusually family-friendly perk in a compact crossover. Other highlights include ample cargo capacity, cool tech features (such as Nissan’s Around-View parking camera system) and projected fuel economy of up to 33 miles per gallon highway.

How Much?

The base 2014 Nissan Rogue S will start at $23,350 including an $860 destination fee, with the top-of-the-line SL AWD checking in at $30,280. The mid-grade SV model splits the difference at about $25,000-$26,000. If you spring for all the options on a SL AWD, expect a bottom line in the $35,000 range.

When Can You Get It?

November 2013.

Add It to Your Shopping List Because…

With its optional third-row seat, the Rogue neatly fills the void left by the rival Toyota RAV4, which had offered three rows but now comes with just two. Also, its 170-hp 4-cylinder engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) should provide decent punch in addition to the eye-popping 33 mpg. For technology, Bluetooth with streaming audio and a hands-free text-message reader come standard, while smartphone-app integration and numerous safety features are available. You can even get Nissan’s Around-View parking system, which used to be limited to high-priced Infiniti products.

When you add it all up, this Rogue looks like the real deal. We look forward to driving one and seeing if it lives up to the hype, so stay tuned for full coverage.
