What Is It?
The 2015 Lexus RC 350 F Sport is a sporty new version of the recently revealed Lexus RC 350. Initially shown at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the RC 350 is a rear-wheel-drive coupe designed to add some excitement to the Lexus lineup, and the new F Sport trim offers the most excitement yet.
On the surface, the RC 350 F Sport offers a long list of upgrades ranging from unique F badging to 19-inch F Sport wheels and an aggressive mesh front spindle grille. Few other changes are made to the F Sport’s exterior, given that the standard RC 350 already boasts a bold, sporty look. Inside, the RC 350 F Sport adds a unique steering wheel, a high-tech gauge cluster and a sporty shift knob for the standard 8-speed automatic transmission.
Under the skin, changes to the RC 350 F Sport are more dramatic. The coupe adds adaptive suspension and a new SPORT+ drive mode that gives it more precise handling and lessened body roll. The F Sport also offers available 4-wheel steering to improve cornering capabilities. Unfortunately for shoppers interested in more muscle, the RC 350 F Sport will draw its power from the same 306-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 as the standard model.
Although pricing has not yet been announced for any RC 350 model, we expect it will carry a slight premium over the IS 350 sedan, which starts around $40,500.
When Can You Get It?
Add It to Your Shopping List Because…
The 2015 Lexus RC 350 F Sport offers an even sportier take on Lexus’ upcoming RC 350 sports coupe. That’s exciting, since this model will blaze new territory for Lexus, a brand that hasn’t offered a performance-oriented, rear-wheel-drive coupe in more than 10 years. If you’re searching for such a car, we strongly suggest that you add the RC 350 F Sport to your shopping list, as it will offer the best possible performance you can get from the new RC lineup.
Other Cars to Consider
BMW 4 Series — The BMW 3 Series Coupe has been officially renamed the 4 Series for 2014. But don’t let the new name throw you off: It’s still the same highly enjoyable performance car that BMW has always offered, albeit with many updates for the new model year.
Lexus IS 350 — Looking for a more practical take on the sporty Lexus? Consider the IS 350 sedan, which offers the same edgy styling and powerful 3.5-liter V6 as the RC, just with two extra doors and a roomier back seat.
Mercedes C350 Coupe — The C350 Coupe offers a greater emphasis on luxury than sport, but it still provides a sporty rear-drive layout, a powerful V6 engine and the cachet that goes with owning a sleek luxury coupe.
Used BMW M3 — Before you sign the papers on a new luxury coupe, consider a pre-owned BMW M3. It boasts V8 power, rear-wheel drive, razor-sharp handling and a choice between manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
