2017 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso: Geneva Auto Show

What Is It?

The 2017 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso used to be the Ferrari FF. Like the FF, it's an unusual car for Ferrari because it uses all-wheel drive (as opposed to rear-wheel drive), has the engine mounted in the nose (as opposed to midmounted, although some other Ferrari cars have been front-engined) and has seating for four. The FF also had awkward styling, while the GTC4 Lusso definitely goes for something sleeker.

The 6.3-liter V12 engine has also been tweaked, taking output up to a mighty 680 horsepower and 514 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is 208 miles per hour. Lusso is Italian for "luxury," by the way. The car now has a rear-wheel steering function and electronic dampers for greater agility than the FF.

Describing the 2017 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, the company says it's for people "wanting to experience the pleasure of driving a Ferrari anywhere, anytime, be it on short spins or long journeys, snowy mountain roads or city streets, alone or in the company of three lucky passengers."

How Much?

To be announced, but $300,000 isn't a bad guess.

When Can You Get It?

Late 2016

Add It to Your Shopping List Because...

It's a Ferrari, yet not the usual kind.

Other Cars to Consider

2016 Aston Martin Rapide -- Oddly enough, there are several ways of taking a driver and three lucky people to the brink of 200 mph or beyond. The Rapide sedan is arguably the sportiest. It sure lives up to its name: 4.2 seconds to 60 mph and a claimed top speed of 203 mph, thanks to 560 hp.

2017 BMW M760i xDrive -- This one is not so sports-car-like, and its top speed is supposedly limited to 155 mph, but that could be fixed easily. This beast comes with all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering, along with prodigious 600-hp performance.

2016 Mercedes-AMG S63 -- The S65 has more power, but the S63 has all-wheel drive and still manages to cope with 577 hp and a top speed of 186 mph.

2016 Porsche Panamera Turbo S -- Its top speed is 192 mph, and engine output is 570 hp. It has a gorgeous interior and a Porsche suspension.

Used Ferrari 612 Scaglietti -- Another of Ferrari's rare 4-seater cars, the 612 is the predecessor to the FF. Made from 2004 to 2011, some might think it looks classier than the GTC4 Lusso and some might say it's blander, but either way, it has lots of V12 power.
