What Is It?

The 2017 Ford Escape compact crossover arrives at the 2015 LA Auto Show with more technology, two new engines and revised styling, all thanks to a midcycle revamp. The looks have been tweaked to be more like the Ford Edge, the Escape's midsize-crossover cousin.

The first new engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder making 180 horsepower, and it's standard in the SE and Titanium trims. There's also the option of a 245-hp turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Both units have a hybridlike stop and start function for better fuel consumption.

Tech-wise, the 2017 Ford Escape is the company's first vehicle to come with SYNC Connect, which allows users to locate their car, lock and unlock the doors and start the engine remotely via a smartphone app. A suite of now-common safety features is also available, such as forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and parking assist.

How Much?

To be announced. The current 2015 Escape starts at $24,345 (including $895 destination charge), so it shouldn't be too different.
