While the previous version of the Civic Type R was featured at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, it was the brand-new pre-production version of the 2017 Honda Civic Type R that captured the lion’s share of attention. Details about the new Civic Type R have yet to be released, but Honda has confirmed that the car shown in Paris, which includes a hood scoop and large Brembo disc brakes, is a 90-percent approximation of the vehicle that will arrive in showrooms. Given the previous version of the Civic Type R, it’s safe to assume the power plant will be a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing around 300 horsepower, with a manual transmission likely included.
Honda has stated that the U.S. will be the first to get the 2017 Honda Civic Type R, with more details being released during its showing at the SEMA Show and the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Find a 2017 Honda Civic for sale
