What Is It?
The 2018 Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster brings open-top thrills to an all-wheel-drive supercar. Barring limited editions, the Aventador is the top model from Lamborghini. And the company recently created the Aventador S hardtop, with more power than the non-S version and a clever rear-wheel steering system.
Both Aventador S models have an intimidating 729 horsepower and 509 lb-ft from a 6.5-liter V12 engine. Lightweight carbon-fiber-intensive construction means the Roadster can spring from standstill to 60 mph in just 3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 217 mph. Despite the extra bracing involved with a removable top (a pair of roof panels are stored in the front storage area), the Roadster is only about 110 pounds heavier than the coupe.
From $463,742. That’s a premium of around $40,000 over the coupe version.
When Can You Get It?
The 2018 Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster should be available later this year.

Do you really need more persuasion than 740 hp, 217 mph, outrageous Lamborghini styling and the glorious blare of a mighty V12 engine?
Other Cars to Consider
2017 Ferrari 488 Spider — Surely 661 hp is enough when driving with the top down. Power numbers aside, this prancing horse is just as quick as the raging bull.
2018 McLaren 570S Spider — At this level, the differences are almost academic. A twin-turbo V8 engine gives the 570S Spider 562 hp, and it can zip to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and hit 196 mph. So still thrilling, yet half the price of the Aventador S Roadster.
2018 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet — Although not blessed with anything like the Lamborghini’s extroverted design, this all-wheel-drive machine can still summon up 580 hp, go from a standstill to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph.
