2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite: Chicago Auto Show

What Is It?

The 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite is a whole new trim level for Ford's 5-seater midsize crossover. Up until now, Titanium has been the Blue Oval's most-luxurious bracket, offering things like leather upholstery, ambient cabin lighting and an upgraded sound system. Now the Titanium Elite goes even higher before hitting the topmost trim level, the new and sporty ST, also coming for 2019.

The Elite aspect is essentially a cosmetic package, with a color-coded front fascia and the same treatment given to the side cladding. It also brings its own dedicated design of 20-inch alloy wheels.

In line with the majority of the Edge range, front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. And this trim receives the regular turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, averaging at about 24 miles per hour.

How Much?

Pricing will be announced near to launch time. But for an extremely rough estimate, the 2018 Edge in Titanium trim starts at $36,925 -- so somewhere above that figure for the 2019 Titanium Elite.

When Can You Get It?

The 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite is expected in dealerships from summer 2018.

Add It to Your Shopping List Because …

Apart from being a crossover and therefore almost automatically attractive to most of the driving public, the Edge is a particularly good crossover with a well-tuned suspension and generous equipment. Ford has obviously recognized a demand for a more-upscale version and decided to provide one.

Other Cars to Consider

2018 Nissan Murano -- Interesting looks. Gains some extra safety features as standard for 2018.

2018 Kia Sorento -- Spacious and well equipped.

2018 Toyota Highlander -- Can accommodate up to eight. A hybrid version is available, and the Highlander enjoys Toyota's great reputation for reliability.

Used Lexus RX 350 -- The best-selling premium crossover of all time. Built well, exudes class, but not as involving as the Edge.
