What Is It?

Sporting more traditional styling and offering three engine choices, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee steps up its game. Consumers may opt for an all-new 270-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a 271-hp 3.2-liter V6 with 4,500 lbs of towing capability or a 180-hp 2.4-liter Tigershark 4-cylinder to deliver oomph to the wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Three 4x4 systems are available for off-road capability. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk boasts Jeep's Trail Rated endorsement.

Styling enhancements include new front fascia, lightweight hood, LED head lamps and daylight running lamps. A new lightweight hands-free composite lift gate provides a fresh look to the rear. A welcome addition is the standard capless fuel fill. A restyled center console, as well as the use of high-gloss piano black and satin chrome tracer accents lead the interior changes.

Infotainment comes by way of the fourth-generation Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Either 7- or 8.4-inch-touchscreen versions are available. Jeep claims the Cherokee offers 80 available safety and security features, including ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning with brake assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and lane-departure warning.

Jeep will offer the Cherokee in Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Overland and Trailhawk grades.

How Much?

Jeep hasn't set pricing, but the base price of the current Cherokee is $25,490 with a destination charge.

When Can You Get It?

Late winter of 2018.

Add It to Your Shopping List Because....

If off-roading is your thing, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee offers the best off-roading packages in its class. Even if you never leave the pavement, the engine choices, improved cabin and availability of some of the latest driver-assist/safety technologies make the Cherokee a compelling option.
