Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Concept - SEMA Auto Show

Somewhere among the whirlpool of shiny gadgets and carbon fiber accessories found at the 2011 SEMA aftermarket show is a camouflaged pickup truck. It's the Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Concept, based on the 2012 Silverado 2500 HD Crew Cab and powered by a 6.6-liter turbocharged V8 diesel engine that develops a grizzly-frightening 765 pound-feet of torque.

"This truck is a celebration of the seven-year partnership between Chevrolet and Realtree. It's only natural to combine the dependable, long-lasting Silverado HD with Realtree, the best gear for the outdoors," said Tony Truelove. But then he would say that because he is marketing manager for Chevrolet pickups.

Realtree describes itself as the world's leading camouflage designer, marketer and licensor. A partnership between these two isn't perhaps the most obvious of strategies, but when Chevy decided to make "the ultimate hunting pickup," going with a camo company is a surefire (pardon the pun) winner.

Actually, this concept is not properly camouflaged. It's finished in Champagne Silver, with abstract representations of antlers here and there. Park it among some trees, though, lean a few branches over the wheels, and it might still be able to blend in.

The truck has all-wheel drive, naturally, with 18-inch wheel rims covered in 35-inch off-road tires. The automatic transmission is a six-speed Allison, an American company that specializes in heavy duty gearing. A custom-made front bumper houses a powered winch, while the sides are augmented with power-actuated running boards. The seats are covered in Dark Cocoa leather, and finished with camouflage piping and orange stitching. And just to keep the rustic theme going, there's a forest scene graphic on the dashboard insert.

There is no gun rack. Or bow rack. Something of an omission for the "ultimate hunting pickup," but the covered bed has plenty of room for a cache of weaponry along with a moose carcass.
