Detroit Auto Show Fun Activities – Sit on a Tractor, Win a Prize

  • Craftsman figures the new CTX tractor series is enough like a car that it deserves to be at an auto show.
  • Although it’s their first show, Craftsman has come well prepared with opportunities to win a couple of great prizes.

When you think about the major auto shows in the U.S.-Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago-it’s easy to envision seas of shiny new cars under bright lights, but it’s likely that seeing riding lawn mowers under those same lights is far from your mind. Craftsman is out to change that perception with its first ever appearance at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

It’s a small booth in the front concourse, but Craftsman offers up potentially big rewards for those intrepid enough to be seen riding a lawn mower at an auto show. Company representatives said that the new CTX tractor series has so many car- and truck-like features (such as cruise control, differential locking, and electronic fuel injection) that it almost qualifies as a car-although they admit they will likely never make it inside the main hall to take a place next to the Maseratis, Volvos and Cadillacs.

Even so, the company has made an enticing booth in its first ever auto show outing. In fact, if you take your picture sitting on top of the display tractor, upload it to Facebook and tag it with the Craftsman brand page you’ll be entered to win either a 255 piece professional mechanics tool set or 16 drawer, floor standing stainless steel, workshop organizer.

The Craftsman booth will be open for the entire show so stop by and try your luck. You can do that first and then run inside the main hall to regain some street cred by sitting in a tricked out Camaro or Charger.

What it means to you: As one of the only booths you can win a prize at during the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, its worth risking your car cred at an auto show by getting your picture taken on a Craftsman riding lawn mower.
