FIAT's Mopar 500 - SEMA Auto Show

by Ross Darby November 2011

Often the best part of acquiring a company isn't the ability to sell their product, it's gaining their talent and R&D and using it on your own products. No one knows this better this week than FIAT, who had two of its 500s done up by Chrysler's performance part division for SEMA.

The first is called the FIAT 500 Titanium, and true to its name, the gunmetal hue is prominent in the color scheme for this car. The goal was to keep the enhancements subtle for this car, and the Mopar team delivered. The front fascia is subtle, but lowered just enough to give the car a definite aggressive look. Side skirts carry the look around the side of the car, as well as Titanium door handles and 16-inch two-piece wheels. Out back, we find a large spoiler and a Titanium license plate brow. Possibly the coolest part of the Titanium is the center-mounted exhaust tip, on the end of a Mopar cat-back exhaust. Inside, the dark-grey hue is present of the sport seat centers and door cards.

The 500 Carbon is similar to the Titanium in what pieces get improvements, but rather than adding lightweight metal, lightweight carbon fiber is installed instead. The front grille and headlamps get painted in Dark Hyper Black, adding to the car's aggressive look. The Carbon gains even bigger wheels, at 17 inches, also finished in Dark Hyper Black. Carbon fiber is found on the mirror caps, as well as the spoiler on the lift gate. The exhaust on the Carbon is made of - you guessed it - carbon fiber, while the license plate brow is done in Dark Hyper Black. Inside, black leather sport seats feature embossed fabric, and contrasting Anodized Azzurro piping breaks up the austerity.

Both cars get Mopar cold-air intakes, strut-tower braces, cat-back exhausts, and lowering springs, which are available for purchase through your Mopar dealer.
