Camp Jeep: Camp Jeep is a mainstay of auto shows. The prime attraction is the 18-foot Jeep Mountain, which is smack in the middle of Jeep's ride-along exhibit, and it presents quite a thrill for show attendees young and old. While it isn't the longest diversion the show offers, it should be one that the kids will talk about for awhile.

Ford's Ken Block Experience: If your kids have ever been on the Internet, they have probably heard of Gymkhana. Rally driver Ken Block's display of automotive agility has taken the Internet by storm, and Ford's booth lets you be right in the middle of it.

Standing in the middle of a white circle in the carpet starts up a giant video screen on the wall that shows you standing in the middle of Ken Block doing donuts. Even if your kid hasn't seen Gymkhana, when have you ever heard of one turning down a chance to be on a 20-foot screen?

Ford's Focus ST Simulator: Most kids love a good video game, so why not put them in one of the most realistic drive simulators available? If your child is under 18, you'll have to sign a waiver, but the simulator pits them against all other attendees who've taken a lap around Ford's track. Hoisted on hydraulic lifts, the simulator tilts and swivels with the movement of the virtual car. The effect is extremely convincing, and it should entertain the kids.

Chevrolet's DJ Station: If your kid has a musical disposition, the GM booth should be one of the first stops on your list. The centerpiece of Chevrolet's display is a DJ booth with a touchscreen table that allows users to create their own music by enabling up to eight different tracks. The result can then be sent to a cell phone and set as a ringtone, or shared to Facebook or Twitter for some digital bragging rights.

What it means to you: If you're torn about whether to go to the New York Auto Show with the entire family in tow, go ahead and bring the whole gang - there's plenty to keep the kids busy while you look at cars.
