Ram 392 Quick Silver Proves Big Can be Fast - SEMA Auto Show

Pickup trucks have an interesting existence at SEMA. If they are featured at all, it's typically in lifted-with-Peterbilt-stacks form. If a manufacturer wants to make a fast car, they typically look for the smaller cars in their lineup. But Chrysler had a different plan with its Ram line up pickups.

Starting with a Ram R/T, the standard engine was scrapped, and an SRT V8 good for 470 horsepower was put in its stead. That's not all, though; because the lump is given easier breathing with a cold-air intake and a cat-back exhaust with exhaust cutouts for use at the track. A reverse deep-cowl aluminum hood is placed over the top, with functional vents to help keep the power plant cool.

Bucking the lifted trend, Ram lowered the Quick Silver by a full two inches, and dropped on 22-inch wheels all around. To accentuate the lowering, a full body kit was added, and to clean up the look out back, a tonneau cover was placed over the bed.

Inside, SRT seats with high bolsters keep the passengers from sliding about in high-speed cornering maneuvers, and red contrast pieces are sewn in to give the interior a bit of an edge. Kicker speakers fill that interior with as much noise as possible, while still leaning room to load the Quick Silver up with gear.

As with all of the cars Chrysler brought, a fair amount of the pieces are available through the Mopar catalog, so you could make your own Quick Silver. Good luck sourcing a suitable SRT engine, though.
