Carmakers have offered an array of self-driving technologies in cars for years. Most of us don't give much thought to stability control, a standard feature in new cars today, but it's one of the capabilities that will help cars drive themselves as we move toward truly autonomous vehicles. The early versions of this feature found their way into a few cars well over a decade ago.

Although we're headed toward an age of fully autonomous cars, today's versions either provide some sort of safety net or help the driver pilot the vehicle.

We're convinced used-car buyers are just as interested in these features as those looking for a new vehicle, so we've found a dozen used cars with one or more autonomous technologies. Most are 5 years old or newer, and a surprising number have rearview cameras

2014 Honda Accord

2014 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L with Honda Sensing

Basically, Honda offers no options on the Accord. If you want more functionality, you move up to the next grade. In 2014, the EX-L was the Accord's top trim level, providing the most standard equipment and technology. It includes a rearview camera and a LaneWatch blind spot monitoring system. The EX-L with Honda Sensing is sort of a subgrade to the EX-L, but it includes lane-departure warning and intervention, as well as forward-collision warning and intervention with automatic braking.

The 2014 Accord's standard engine was a 185-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. In the EX-L, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) provided the gearing. You got the same transmission if you opted for the 278-hp 3.5-liter V6. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2.4-liter delivered 31 miles per gallon in combined driving. This dropped to 25 mpg with the V6.

Autotrader currently has more than 250 listings for the Accord Coupe EX-L ranging in price from just under $12,000 to about $27,000. There are 83 certified pre-owned (CPO) listings included.

2012 Buick LaCrosse

2012 Buick LaCrosse Touring

Buick prides itself on building premium vehicles well-suited to American tastes. Despite some strong Chinese influences, the LaCrosse doesn't deviate from Buick's core mission. The Touring trim was the top grade for LaCrosse in 2012. In addition to a 303-hp 3.6-liter V6, Buick added the option of a new 182-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder eAssist mild hybrid engine. A 6-speed automatic was the only transmission. The eAssist delivered a government-estimated 29 mpg in combined driving versus the V6's 21 mpg.

In addition to all sorts of upmarket goodies, such as perforated-leather seating, keyless ignition and an 11-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, what caught our eye were its three autonomous technologies. In addition to rear-parking assist, also found in some lesser grades, the Touring trim adds a rearview camera and a blind spot monitoring system.

Autotrader currently offers more than 60 listings for the 2012 LaCrosse Touring, ranging in price from about $15,000 to just under $23,000. For CPO models, there are currently 11 options to choose from.

2016 Infiniti M56

2011 Infiniti M56

Infiniti pioneered many of today's autonomous technologies, including lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring and forward emergency braking, to name a few. We dug back to the 2011 Infiniti M56 to see what autonomous technology the brand might have had on its flagship sedan of the day. In addition to the rearview camera, standard on every M56, opting for the technology package added adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and prevention, forward-collision warning, adaptive headlamps and a blind spot monitoring system.

Available with all-wheel drive as the M56x, the 2011 model of this sedan derives its thrust from a 480-hp 5.6-liter V8 paired to a 7-speed driver-shiftable automatic transmission. Government-estimated fuel economy for the regular 2011 M56 is 16 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Although city fuel economy stays the same with all-wheel drive, it drops to 23 mpg hwy.

Autotrader currently lists nearly 70 versions of the M56 from this model year. They're priced between $15,500 and $41,898. Infiniti's CPO program doesn't include vehicles more than 4 years old.

2012 Hyundai Genesis

2012 Hyundai Genesis 4.6

You can find versions of the Genesis with a smaller V6 and a more powerful V8, but the Genesis 4.6 slots comfortably in between with a 378-hp 4.6-liter V8. For the 2012, an 8-speed driver-shiftable automatic transmission transfers engine power to the rear wheels. Estimated mileage is 16 mpg city/25 mpg hwy.

Hyundai has always told a value story, and that includes the Genesis. Loaded to the gills with all manner of luxury features, the 2012 model provides keyless ignition, automatic dual-zone climate control, leather seating, a navigation system and a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system. Its list of autonomous technologies includes a rearview camera, adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and lane-departure warning.

Autotrader offers a list of more than 70 Genesis 4.6 models from 2012, ranging in price from $9,800 to almost $28,000. Nine of them are CPO.

2012 Audi A6

2012 Audi A6 3.0T Prestige quattro

Fully redesigned for the model year, the 2012 A6 came in a number of trims for the 2.0T and 3.0T. The numerals correspond to engines. Audi's midsize sedan, the A6 3.0T Prestige, popped right out of the box with a healthy array of standard goodies. Quad-zone climate control, leather seating, Audi's Multi Media Interface system, navigation and a Bose-infused audio system were just some of the standard gear. Standard autonomous technology on 2012 models includes adaptive headlights, as well as front and rear parking sensors. From the options list, buyers could add adaptive cruise control and a blind spot monitoring system.

Motivating 2012 versions of the A6 3.0T versions is a 310-hp 3-liter supercharged V6. An 8-speed driver-shiftable automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels. Fuel economy is estimated at 19 mpg city/28 mpg hwy.

Currently, Autotrader lists nearly 70 models for the 2012 3.0T Prestige, ranging from $18,995 to $37,950. CPO versions account for four of those listings.

2014 Chevrolet Impala

2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ

One thing we like about the 2014 model year for the Chevy Impala is that the tricked-out LTZ was available with the less fuel-thirsty 195-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or the 182-hp 2.4-liter mild hybrid 4-cylinder. Both engines achieve more impressive mileage than the 305-hp 3.6-liter V6. For 2014 models, the EPA estimates combined fuel economy at 25 mpg for the 2.5L, 29 mpg for the 2.4L mild hybrid and 21 mpg for the V6. A 6-speed automatic transmission changes the gears.

We picked the LTZ grade because in addition to features like the OnStar emergency system, a MyLink infotainment interface and an 8-in touchscreen, the 2014 comes standard with a host of self-driving technologies, including rear-parking sensors, rearview camera, lane-departure warning, a blind spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert and frontal-collision warning.

With nearly 440 of them, Autotrader has gobs of listings priced from $20,888 to just less than $32,000 for the 2014 Impala LTZ to look through. If you're on the hunt for a CPO model, there are 155 of those.

2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 Wagon

2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 Wagon

We wanted to include a station wagon among our picks and landed on the 2011 E350. When you drop back more than 3 or 4 years, it isn't easy to find a model with more than a couple of available autonomous technologies, even from a luxury brand. In the 2011 E350, you'll need to step up to an options package to get anything more than the standard rearview camera. Models with the Premium 2 option package include adaptive bi-xenon headlights with adaptive high-beam assist. To add adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and a blind spot monitoring system, you'll need a version with the Driver Assistance package.

Although the 2011 E350 Sedan had AMG and Bluetec turbodiesel variants, the Wagon came only with the 268-hp 3.5-liter V6 matched to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The EPA estimates mileage for this model year at 16 mpg city/23 mpg hwy.

The 2011 E350's cabin is a tad austere in its design, but it comes well-equipped with features like a COMMAND electronics interface, a power lift gate and Bluetooth connectivity.

2011 Nissan Altima

2013 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

Finding an affordable sedan with at least a few autonomous technologies is reason to celebrate. In this case, it's the Altima 2.5 SL. However, whether outfitted as the 2.5 or 3.5 SL, this sedan is hard to find. Currently, Autotrader only has two listings of the 2.5 SL and one listing of the 3.5 SL.

A 182-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine drives the 2.5 SL, while a 270-hp 3.5-liter V6 motivates the 3.5 SL. Both send power to the front wheels through a CVT. Mileage is hugely different based on engine. The 2.5-liter delivers a government-estimated 27 mpg city/38 mpg hwy. Fuel economy drops noticeably with the 3.5-liter to 22 mpg city/32 mpg hwy.

One thing that may make this sedan so hard to find is that the 2013 model year offers a number of autonomous technologies, making it pretty desirable. Only a rearview camera is standard, but other technologies like lane-departure warning, a blind spot monitoring system and cross-traffic alert are all on the options list.

2013 BMW 5 Series

2013 BMW 5 Series Sedan

For the 2013 model year, you can take your pick among the range of 5 Series models and still get a wealth of autonomous technologies by checking a few boxes on the options sheet. Every 5 Series that year came with a load of standard features, like adaptive bi-xenon headlights, automatic dual-zone climate control, BMW Assist (an emergency communications system) and BMW's iDrive electronics interface. The options list included an automatic parallel-parking system, automatic highbeams, infrared night vision, a blind spot monitoring system, lane-departure warning and active steering. Models with adaptive cruise control also supply a precollision system with frontal-collision alert and automatic braking.

Depending on the model, a number of engines are available, from a 240-hp 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo to a 400-hp 4.4-liter V8 turbo. Likewise, fuel economy is all over the map.

Currently, Autotrader offers 25 listings for 5 Series sedans from 2013. They range in price from $20,981 to almost $45,000. CPO models account for 16 of the listings.

2004 Toyota Sienna

2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited

We really dug deep into the archives to come up with this pick. We liked the idea that a dozen years ago, there was a minivan that offered adaptive cruise control. You could almost hear the trumpets blare and the flutter of wings as the doves were released when Toyota announced its Dynamic Laser Cruise Control system for the 2004 Sienna. Only offered on its top-of-the-line Limited grade, it was quite a novelty. It also came with front and rear parking sensors, a full array of airbags and traction control.

Otherwise, this vintage Sienna was competent, comfortable and freshly redone. Toyota fitted it with a 230-hp 3.3-liter V6 mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 19 mpg city/27 mpg hwy -- not too shabby for the time.

Good luck finding one of these, though. Autotrader doesn't list a single one.

2012 Ford Focus

2012 Ford Focus Hatchback Titanium

If you want a lot more autonomous technology than you'd expect, the Focus Titanium might just be the answer. Who would think the 2012 version of this small car would feature a self-parking system? In addition to being able to parallel-park itself, the 2012 Focus Titanium had front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. It's a mystery as to why it would have self-parking and not some other, more popular features, such as a blind spot monitoring system and lane-departure warning, but there isn't another car in the Focus price range with self-parking technology.

Titanium is the top-of-the-heap grade for the Focus, and it includes lots of goodies, such as leather seating, My Ford Touch and Wi-Fi capability.

You won't win any pink slips drag racing the Focus, but it has plenty of spirit. A 160-hp 2-liter 4-cylinder engine turns the front wheels on 2012 Titanium versions by way of a 6-speed driver-shiftable automatic transmission.

Currently Autotrader offers three listings for the 2012 Focus Titanium. Prices range from $11,600 to $14,000.

2011 Volvo S60

2011 Volvo S60

Completely redesigned for the model year, the 2011 Volvo S60 came only in a T6 trim level. Although it offered a number of popular features including Bluetooth connectivity, automatic dual-zone climate control and leather seating, its autonomous technology all came from the options list. The Premium Package brought adaptive bi-xenon headlights, while the Multimedia Package added a rearview camera. The Technology Package brought adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning with emergency braking and pedestrian detection. An optional blind spot monitoring system was also available.

A 300-hp 3-liter inline 6-cylinder turbocharged engine turned the front wheels via a 6-speed driver-shiftable automatic transmission. According to the EPA, fuel economy was 17 mpg city/26 mpg hwy.

Autotrader currently has no listings for the 2011 Volvo S60 T6.
