At the end of the day, there’s simply no better vehicle for family hauling duty than a minivan. A good minivan will give you three rows of seats that are actually comfortable, a roomy cargo hold and family-friendly technology that you simply won’t find in even the nicest SUVs. Minivans offer a value to families that shouldn’t be ignored.
Here are five great used minivans you can find on Autotrader for less than $30,000 for 2020.
2017-2019 Chrysler Pacifica
The Chrysler Pacifica is a fantastic minivan and you can get a used one that’s pretty loaded for less than $30,000. The optional Uconnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system has two screens behind the front headrests, and on top of having Blu-ray and DVD capability, they’re loaded with apps and games that can make road trips fly by for your passengers. The Pacifica also has available Stow n’ Go seating in most models with second- and third-row seats that fold flat into the floor, transforming your minivan into a cargo van in seconds. The Pacifica has a plug-in hybrid option, but that won’t be easy to find for less than $30k. Find a Chrysler Pacifica for sale
2017-2019 Dodge Grand Caravan
The Dodge Grand Caravan has available Stow n’ Go seating like the Pacifica, but it’s generally more affordable than the Pacifica. You shouldn’t have a hard time finding a fully loaded Grand Caravan from a pretty recent model year in this price range since they’re already quite affordable when new making them a good value in used minivans. Starting in 2017, the Grand Caravan got a 6.5-in infotainment system with a backup camera as standard equipment. We like the GT trim, which has leather seating that is heated in the first and second rows, navigation, power sliding doors and much more. Find a Dodge Grand Caravan for sale
2018-2019 Honda Odyssey
The Honda Odyssey is a long-time leader in the minivan game and the current-generation model that came out in 2018 is the best Odyssey yet. The Odyssey’s many virtues include smooth and stable handling, a responsive and efficient V6 engine, and lots of family-friendly technology and abundant available safety technology. Every model except the base LX trim comes with the Honda Sensing safety tech suite which includes precollision braking, road-departure warning, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. 2017-2019 Kia Sedona
The Kia Sedona is on the more affordable side of minivans which means you can get a really nice used one for less than $30k. Starting in 2017, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and automatic emergency braking became available in the Sedona, so we recommend finding one from that model year or newer. The Sedona has a nice, quiet cabin that feels kind of like a premium sedan from the front seats, and it gets excellent safety scores. We like the SX trim, which comes with heated second-row captain’s chairs, heated and ventilated front seats, navigation, Infinity premium audio and a ton of safety tech. Find a Kia Sedona for sale
2018-2019 Toyota Sienna
The Toyota Sienna has a strong reputation for value, safety and reliability, much like its chief rival, the Honda Odyssey. The Sienna has the distinction of being the only minivan available with all-wheel drive (AWD) (at least until the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica hits dealerships). It’s been a while since the Sienna has had a thorough redesign, but it got a nice face-lift in 2018 with a refreshed exterior, a standard 7-in infotainment system and five standard USB ports. Another awesome standard feature on every trim is Toyota Safety Sense which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams and adaptive cruise control.
