Although many modern SUV shoppers couldn't care less whether their SUV is capable of towing and hauling, some still need those capabilities. If you're among the few drivers who needs an SUV that can tow a trailer or haul a heavy load, you've come to the right place. We've listed seven great SUVs capable of doing just that -- and we've made sure each one is a certified pre-owned (CPO) model, which means you'll get a substantial discount from the original price and a long, manufacturer-backed warranty.

Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban

The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban set the standard for SUVs that can tow and haul. One reason is, quite simply, towing capacity, as both the Tahoe and the Suburban can pull about 8,000 pounds. But it isn't just that: These two SUVs combine their impressive towing capabilities with a handsome interior, a lot of equipment and a smooth ride that really makes the Tahoe and Suburban feel like no other full-size SUVs on the market.

The only problem is pricing, as even a base-level Tahoe now starts at around $48,000 with shipping -- a figure that can rise well into the $60,000-plus range with all the trimmings. Consider a certified pre-owned model, however, and you'll find that the average asking price on Autotrader is around $44,400. While that may mean opting for a previous-generation Tahoe, it also means taking advantage of Chevrolet's generous certified pre-owned warranty, which offers one year of additional bumper-to-bumper coverage and powertrain protection for up to 5 years or 100,000 miles.

Dodge Durango

Although the Dodge Durango doesn't utilize the same tow-friendly body-on-frame construction as rivals like the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition and GMC Yukon, it still offers a strong chassis with up to 7,400 pounds of pulling power -- largely due to a muscular 5.7-liter V8 engine option. Opting for that engine in a new Durango can be pricey, though, so we recommend considering a certified pre-owned model instead. Not only will you get 7 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage, but you'll find much more reasonable prices: Certified pre-owned versions of the V8-powered Durango are available on Autotrader with an average asking price of just $31,600.

Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition was recently updated to offer a powerful (and torquey) 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in place of its muscular V8. But regardless of whether you get the latest Expedition or the outgoing model, you'll find excellent towing capacity: The new V6 can pull up to 9,200 pounds when equipped with the optional Towing package, which represents an increase of just a few hundred pounds over the old V8. And while a new Expedition starts at a pricey $46,000 with shipping, certified pre-owned models boast long warranty coverage (up to 7 years or 100,000 miles) and a discounted MSRP: The average price of a certified pre-owned Expedition on Autotrader is closer to $38,000.

GMC Yukon

The GMC Yukon -- and its full-size stablemate, the Yukon XL -- are a lot like the Chevy Tahoe Suburban, with one major exception: more power. Only offered in Denali trim levels, an available 6.2-liter V8 bumps towing capacity up to an impressive 8,500 pounds, which is 500 more than a standard model. Unfortunately, prices are high, as a Yukon Denali starts around $66,000 with shipping. Go for a certified pre-owned model, however, and you'll find Denali prices averaging a much more reasonable $47,200 on Autotrader -- not bad when you consider that figure includes one extra year of bumper-to-bumper coverage and up to 5 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage.

Infiniti QX80

The full-size Infiniti QX80 might not seem like a tow vehicle, thanks to its plush interior, upscale cabin, and long list of high-end amenities. Or maybe it's the high price that has you convinced the QX80 can't tow heavy loads: The SUV starts at around $64,200 with shipping. But indeed, the QX80 boasts a monstrous towing capacity of 8,500 pounds, which places it among today's top SUVs for towing. Its only problem is its high price tag, but that's where Infiniti's certified pre-owned warranty comes in. Not only does the brand's certified pre-owned program offer up to 7 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage, but it also brings down the QX80's price: The average MSRP of a certified pre-owned QX80 on Autotrader is around $53,000.

Lexus GX

Although you might not think of a Lexus as a tow vehicle, the GX 460 is surprisingly capable at doing exactly that. Boasting a standard 4.6-liter V8 and a body-on-frame chassis, the GX can pull up to 6,500 pounds -- far in excess of most luxury vehicle rivals. (The car-based RX 350 crossover, for instance, can only tow 3,500 pounds.) And while the GX's base price of around $51,000 is steep, Lexus's certified pre-owned warranty offers a better deal. Not only does it tout 3 years of coverage from the day you buy your GX (up to 100,000 miles), but it also offers a good discount: The average price of a certified pre-owned GX model on Autotrader is around $45,000, or closer to $40,000 if you refine your search to include 2013 and earlier models.

Toyota Sequoia

The Sequoia is Toyota's answer to full-size domestic SUVs like the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition and Dodge Durango. Offering a truck-based chassis and standard V8 power, the Sequoia boasts up to 7,400 pounds of towing capacity -- not bad for an SUV that also offers three rows of leather-wrapped seats and some of the latest high-tech gadgets.

Our only problem with the Sequoia is its high pricing, as even a base model starts at $46,000 with shipping -- a figure that can climb to an eye-popping $65,700 if you opt for an upscale Platinum model. Pick a certified pre-owned Sequoia, however, and you'll find an average price on Autotrader of just $44,200 -- not to mention Toyota's excellent CPO warranty, which offers one additional year of bumper-to-bumper coverage and 7 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain protection from the original sale date. Just remember to opt for the 5.7-liter V8 if you're interested in serious towing or hauling, as the Sequoia's 4.6-liter engine -- while strong -- isn't quite as capable as the bulky 5.7.
