The Corolla is basic, simple transportation, offering eight airbags and a large rear seat. Like most vehicles on this list, power comes from a basic 4-cylinder engine and fuel economy is good, coming in at 31 or 32 miles per gallon in combined driving. Altogether, if efficient point-to-point transportation is what you’re after, you can’t go wrong with a gently-used Corolla. 2013-2015 Honda Civic

2013-2015 Honda Civic

The 2013-2015 Honda Civic offers reliability, good interior quality and pleasant driving dynamics. When the Civic was redesigned for 2011, Honda opted to cut costs as part of that redesign, and the resulting vehicle was said to be a step backwards over the previous model with regard to refinement and handling. Luckily, Honda addressed many of these shortcomings with a refresh of the Civic for 2013, which is why we recommend it here. Power came from a 1.8 liter 4-cylinder making 140 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options were a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. The automatic returned 29 mpg city/37 mpg hwy, good for 33 mpg combined. There are currently just under 400 2013-2015 Honda Civics listed on Autotrader for around $10,000 or less. Of these, most are sedans, while around 75 are coupes. Manuals are much tougher to come by, as there are fewer than 30 listed that meet our requirements. Find a Honda Civic for sale
