7 Great Used Hybrid Cars Under $10,000 for 2019

Whether you’re an environmentally conscious motorist on a budget or you’re just a cheapskate who wants a used car that’s both affordable and efficient, a used hybrid is a good, practical option for a lot of drivers. Here are seven great used hybrid cars you can find on Autotrader for less than $10,000.

2009-2015 Toyota Prius

2009-2015 Toyota Prius: 51 mpg city/48 mpg hwy

Love it or hate it, the Toyota Prius is simply one of the best, most efficient and most practical hybrids out there. The third-generation model has become very affordable on the used market. You won’t be thrilled by its driving dynamics, but you’ll be impressed by its tremendous fuel economy. On top of that, it boasts a spacious cargo area and a strong reliability record meaning low running costs all around. If efficiency and value are your top priorities, it’s hard to beat a used Prius. Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

2006-2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid/Lincoln MKZ Hybrid: 41 mpg city/36 mpg hwy

For a more normal-looking hybrid with a little more guts when you hit the gas pedal, the hybrid variants of the first-generation Ford Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ are attractive, affordable options. They have comfortable, techy interiors for their day and their practicality as midsize sedans make them great family vehicles. The MKZ, which is mechanically the same as the Fusion, has depreciated to a point where the values of the first-gen models are very similar to its Ford counterpart meaning you can get hybrid luxury on a budget. 2007-2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid

2007-2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid: 31 mpg city/35 mpg hwy

In this generation of the Camry, the hybrid variant only gives a slight bump to fuel economy, but it’s a bump worth considering if you’re shopping for a used midsize sedan. That said, it has a fun-to-drive factor that’s surprising for a hybrid Camry and the whole family will appreciate the roomy cabin. The Camry Hybrid was improved with its following generation that started in 2012 getting much better fuel economy, but that one is harder to find on the used market at this price point. Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

2011-2015 Kia Optima Hybrid/Hyundai Sonata Hybrid: 36 mpg city/40 mpg hwy

The Kia Optima Hybrid and its mechanical twin the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid are often overlooked in used hybrid cars, but they’re nice fuel misers with a smooth ride, some nice tech including an intuitive infotainment system, and an excellent safety record. We think the Optima is the nicer looking of the two and it has a nice interior design that’s aging well. If you find either with a 4-digit price tag, it’s a solid used hybrid bargain. 2012-2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid

2012-2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid: 42 mpg city/38 mpg hwy

The Ford C-Max Hybrid is a hybrid built on the compact car platform shared with the Focus, so it is basically a Ford Focus hybrid with a different name. This hatchback has pretty strong performance for a hybrid with quick acceleration and nice handling accompanied by a pleasant, smooth ride quality. Its interior is also nicer than you might expect from a Ford compact. Since the C-Max was already an affordable car when it was new, depreciation has made it an even better deal on the used market and it’s not hard to find one under the $10k mark. Honda Insight

2010-2014 Honda Insight: 41 mpg city/44 mpg hwy

You could call the second-generation Honda Insight a Prius knock-off, but there’s a little more to it than that. The Prius is infamous for its dull driving experience (which is not necessarily a bad thing if you don’t care about driving dynamics), but if you’re looking for a hybrid hatchback with a little more spring in its step, that’s where the Insight comes in. This Honda is more agile than most hybrids, although it’s a little low on horsepower meaning it won’t win any drag races. It’s also notable for its strong safety ratings and its more palatable aesthetic than its Toyota rival. Find a Honda Insight for sale

Lexus RX 400h

2006-2008 Lexus RX 400h: 28 mpg city/25 mpg hwy

The first hybrid variant of the Lexus RX crossover had a brief production run of only three model years, but if you can find one, it’s a strong value in used luxury SUVs. It’s hard to ignore that it’s the least efficient hybrid on our list, but it’s also the only SUV and it is quite a bit more efficient than the non-hybrid variant of the second-gen RX, especially in the city. It also does a nice job retaining the many virtues of the standard RX like a nice blend of utility, luxury and quality that the Lexus brand is known for. Find a Lexus RX for sale
