New York Fashion Week (Spring/Summer 2016) is just around the corner, and that got the editors here at Autotrader thinking: What if we could have an assortment of new cars to choose from for every outfit in our wardrobe? Imagine that -- your vehicle would become the ultimate accessory, the cherry on top of a carefully curated look for any occasion you could dream up. Um, yes please.

As lovers of all things style-related, we know firsthand that all accessories are not created equal. Choosing the wrong color or style of shoes or a necklace can be detrimental to an otherwise on-trend outfit. So while we're daydreaming of the perfect car for a variety of situations, we're going to choose the must-have hue, too -- because why not? This is our fantasy.

Dinner Date

We're wearing: The quintessential little black dress.

We're driving: Jaguar F-Type Coupe in Black Berry Metallic.

A date with your dapper beau and rezzies at the swankiest new restaurant in town can only mean two things: One, your go-to little black dress will be making an appearance, and two, you want to show up in one of the sexiest new cars of the year. Hello, 2016 Jaguar F-Type. Your date (and the valet) will surely be impressed with the sporty F-Type's supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and downright luxurious interior. Our exterior color pick is the Black Berry Metallic -- a super-rich eggplant that will complement your LBD and strappy stilettos perfectly.

Weekend Chic

We're wearing: Our comfiest pair of distressed jeans.

We're driving: Honda HR-V in Alabaster Silver Metallic.

Your weekend uniform of distressed jeans and a bright, soft sweater has you covered in the comfort department, so the only thing left to finish the look is a capable little crossover for the errands you've been avoiding all week long. Enter the 2016 Honda HR-V, the hottest new contender in the growing compact-crossover segment. The HR-V's 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, impressive fuel economy figures (31 miles per gallon combined with the continuously variable transmission) and clever rear-storage options will surely keep you satisfied as you jaunt from Target to the farmer's market. We'd go with Alabaster Silver Metallic because denim paired with shimmery metallic hues are a match made in heaven.

Beach-Ready

We're wearing: A tropical print bikini and kaftan.

We're driving: Volkswagen Eos in Pure White.

A day on the water demands the perfect suit and accessories, and a two-piece in a tropical print, a gauzy kaftan and a pair of espadrille flats will keep you beach-chic from head to toe. All that's missing is the quintessential summer ride: a cute convertible like the 2015 Volkswagen Eos. We love its unique retractable hardtop with the built-in sunroof, and the 2.0T 4-cylinder engine is just peppy enough to keep the party going as you drive home from the beach. Our color pick is Pure White, because if your stylish swimsuit can't be lounging on the deck of a pristine yacht at all times, a sparkling white drop-top is the next best thing.

Working Girl

We're wearing: A navy silk dress in a classic A-line silhouette.

We're driving: Kia Optima in Snow White Pearl.

"Business casual" can have many different interpretations, but no matter what it means at your office, you clearly want to look polished and professional from 9 to 5. A navy silk dress belted at the waist, paired with a bold, structured tote and pointy-toe pumps is a classic look that's perfectly appropriate for a lunch meeting with your biggest client or a brainstorming session with your work BFF. Of course, you'll need a stylish sedan to get you to and from company headquarters, and we love the 2016 Kia Optima. This midsize sedan's sleek, sophisticated vibe will set you up for success the second you get behind the wheel, with a combination of performance, price, features and a warranty that can't be beat. We're partial to the Optima in Snow White Pearl, which is an icy white that says you mean business.

Girls' Night Out

We're wearing: A fun magenta-colored mini dress.

We're driving: Hyundai Genesis in Parisian Gray.

A night out with your besties is always a good time, whether you're wine tasting at a local bistro or getting down on the dance floor at your favorite club. No matter where you end up, you want to look the part, and a flirty, scalloped dress in a deep magenta hue is equal parts classy and sexy. Also equal parts classy and sexy is the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. This fully redesigned luxury sedan is a real head-turner with its imposing grille and tech-laden interior, plus a 3.8-liter V6 engine that offers more than enough power for a night on the town. Our color choice is Parisian Gray, since this dusky hue is the perfect backdrop for your pretty-in-pink mini dress.

Jet Set

We're wearing: The coziest printed knit cape.

We're driving: Ford Flex in Bronze Fire with the Ingot Silver roof.

Whether you're driving to the airport to catch a flight with the fam or road tripping the entire way to your destination, comfort is key (hello, layers). Denim paired with a loose tee and printed knit cape will keep you cozy through many hours of air-conditioned travel. With all that luggage and your little travel companions in tow, you'll need lots of space (and tech features) to minimize fighting and maximize fun on this trip. The 2015 Ford Flex is the answer. Its 3.5-liter V6, 25 mpg highway rating, and loads of upscale options and electronics will keep you (and the entire crew) content ... at least until you run out of snacks. Our color pick is Bronze Fire with the optional silver-capped roof because it's different than anything else on the road (and that red will look great with your cape).

Gala Glam

We're wearing: A gorgeous silk gown in a blue-and-white print.

We're driving: Cadillac Escalade in Black Raven.

It's not every day that you get invited to a black-tie event for your favorite charity, but when it does come up, you want to be ready since you don't exactly have a fairy godmother waiting in the wings. A romantic silk stunner in a pale blue-and-white print will ensure that you're the belle of the ball. And of course you can't show up in just any old ride when you're wearing a gorgeous gown -- right, Cinderella? We'd like to arrive in style in the back seat of the completely redesigned 2015 Cadillac Escalade. Its 6.2-liter V8 will get you there on time, and the plush, spacious interior will keep you comfortable (even in your Spanx). We like the Escalade in Black Raven. You can't show up to a black-tie ball in anything else.
