A version with a 6-cylinder engine arrives -- the M340i. The 330i gains a digital driver information display along with navigation as standard. There's also been some shuffling of other standard and optional features. The wagon and Gran Turismo (GT) variants, based on the previous generation, are no longer available. Be realistic about how much power is required for the majority of driving duties. There's a strong likelihood that a 330i with some well-chosen options, including things like blind spot detection, will be more than sufficient for most buyers. Find a BMW 3 Series for sale

2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia -- Italian style, European handling talents and a 280-hp 4-cylinder engine.
2020 Audi A4 -- Packed with technology and highly acclaimed. Updated for 2020.
2020 Jaguar XE -- Fabulous styling and suspension, and the supercharged V6 is an ideal engine choice. Might feel a tad small to some, though.
2020 Lexus IS -- Bold styling, high levels of standard equipment for the price. Undramatic handling.
2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class -- Exceptionally graceful styling, slick dashboard and a pleasure to drive. The AMG C43 is a rival for the M340i.
Used BMW 5 Series -- BMW's certified pre-owned (CPO) program could provide a low-mileage 5 Series for the price (or even less) of a new 3. The 535i is smooth and swift, but a suitably priced 550i with twin-turbo V8 power deserves serious consideration.
