- The special editions go on sale in October.
Jeep is adding two rugged new special editions to its lineup for the 2013 model year. The automaker recently revealed details about the new models, dubbed the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and Wrangler Moab Special Edition, ahead of their arrival in dealerships later this year.
For shoppers interested in an off-road ride with a touch of luxury, the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will be a strong contender. On the outside, revisions over the standard Grand Cherokee include a black hood decal that reduces glare from the sun, tinted headlight surrounds and red tow hooks, while the SUV’s interior boasts red stitching, leather upholstery and unique Mopar floormats.
But the biggest revisions to the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk are under the skin, where the special edition SUV includes Kevlar-reinforced tires, 5-mode Selec-Terrain traction control, rock rails to protect its body and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk also includes Jeep’s impressive Quadra-Lift air suspension, which can raise it up to 11 inches for the most challenging off-road maneuvering. Like other Grand Cherokee models, the Trailhawk gives buyers a choice between Chrysler‘s standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and the powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8.
Named for the famed Canyonlands National Park of Moab, Utah, the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Special Edition is similarly prepared for off-road excursions. Based on the Wrangler Sahara and offered in 2- or 4-door Unlimited configurations, the Wrangler Moab boasts the same Kevlar-reinforced tires as its Grand Cherokee stablemate, along with a limited-slip differential, rock rails and steel bumpers. Other upgrades include a new Mopar hood, black fenders, a matte-black front Jeep badge and gloss-black 17-in alloy wheels. On the inside, the Wrangler Moab includes unique Iron Gray trim and Mopar floomats.
While pricing has not yet been announced for the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk or the Wrangler Moab, we expect to learn more as the special editions edge closer to their October on-sale dates.
