- 2014 Silverado configurator now online
- Visitors can change truck’s colors, body styles and wheels
- Pricing not yet announced
Just days after seeing the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado for the first time in Detroit, interested shoppers can already configure the truck online. That’s because Chevrolet recently launched a microsite for the newly redesigned truck that includes a full configurator. Only one thing is missing: the truck’s pricing.
Available at chevrolet.com/new2014silverado, the configurator lets shoppers see the new truck from every angle. It also shows off all available body styles, from a regular cab Silverado with a standard bed to the extended cab and crew cab models with varying bed lengths.
After shoppers pick their body style, they can choose a trim level. Base-level models, called Work Truck 1, have plastic bumpers and the pickup’s new 4.3-liter V6. Stepping up to the Work Truck 2 level adds chrome bumpers, cloth seats and OnStar telematics. The mid-level Silverado LT offers alloy wheels and an upgraded interior, while the upscale LTZ includes leather and a standard V8. Also available are Z71 models, which include heavy-duty suspension and unique chrome accents.
In addition to allowing shoppers to choose a body style and trim, the 2014 Silverado configurator also provides a complete wheel selection and color palette. Ten colors are available, while wheels range from a steel set of 17-inch to 20-in alloys finished in chrome.
While the configurator doesn’t allow for interior customization, the microsite provides great detail inside the truck. Shoppers can closely examine several aspects of the cabin, ranging from the rear seats to new storage and technology. The site also highlights important features drivers may otherwise miss, like a power sliding rear window, rear doors that open wider and new safety equipment.
Since the 2014 Silverado hasn’t reached production, shoppers looking to buy the truck can’t exactly search local dealers for inventory. But General Motors encourages site visitors to peruse other Silverado highlights, or e-mail their dream configuration to friends. That’s not possible on GMC’s website, where the 2014 Sierra configurator has yet to launch.
The only thing not included in the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado’s configurator is pricing. Chevrolet says that we will know that information closer to the truck’s launch this summer.
What it means to you: If you just can’t wait for the new Silverado, check it out online — from every angle — at the new Silverado microsite.
