- SuperCrew cab now standard or available across F-150 lineup
- STX among 10 F-150 trim choices for 2014
- Appearance upgrades available with STX Sport package
The 2014 Ford F-150 is available in a nearly limitless array of trim choices, body-and-cab configurations and powertrain options. No fewer than 10 trim grades are offered, creating a wide range of options for new-truck shoppers. For 2014, Ford announced it will add a SuperCrew version of the F-150 STX, making the largest cab available across the entire F-150 lineup. Also new for 2014 is an STX Sport package that adds interior and exterior appearance upgrades such as 20-inch wheels and 2-tone cloth front seats.
The F-150 STX is positioned just above the base XL and just below the feature-rich XLT, making it a value choice. Pricing for the new STX SuperCrew starts at $33,145 for a 2-wheel-drive version with the base 3.7-liter V6. Bumping up to a STX SuperCrew 4×4 with Ford’s 5.0-liter V8 increases the price to $37,570. That’s about $1,400 less than similarly equipped F-150 XLT SuperCrew models.
Of course, some pickup drivers will prefer the styling of the STX anyway. While the XLT is heavier on chrome, the STX has a more modern look, with color-keyed bumpers and grille surround. The STX also includes standard 17-in aluminum wheels, power windows with auto up/down, cruise control, remote keyless entry, an auxiliary audio jack, a vehicle information display and a manual lumbar support for the driver seat.
Drivers wishing to upgrade the appearance can choose the new STX Sport package. Along with bigger wheels and upgraded upholstery, it brings a revised grille insert, tubular running boards and color-matched carpet. Including current discounts, the STX Sport package is priced at $980.
Four-door pickups such as the STX SuperCrew continue to be popular for drivers who want truck capabilities along with plenty of passenger space. The 2014 Ford F-150 lineup reveals that trend; a regular cab is available only on three of the 10 trim grades. Every other one gets either an extended SuperCab or the bigger SuperCrew configuration.
What it means to you: With the addition of the STX SuperCrew for 2014, Ford makes its big 4-door cab available on every model in the F-150 lineup.
