  • 2015 Mustang option packages and trim levels detailed
  • Five models: V6, 4-cylinder, GT, SVT and limited-production 50th Anniversary
  • 4-cylinder Mustang EcoBoost will offer sporty performance package

We've recently learned a few details about options for the upcoming and hotly anticipated 2015 Ford Mustang. Although Ford has yet to officially confirm, the Web is buzzing with info relating to all aspects of the soon-to-be-released Mustang, ranging from trim levels and transmission choices to an exciting extra package, called the EcoBoost Performance package.

For starters, the 2015 Mustang lineup will be divided into five models. There's a 3.7-liter V6 version, a 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder dubbed the Mustang Ecoboost, a V8-powered Mustang GT, a high-performance SVT and a limited-production Mustang 50th Anniversary. We learned about the 50th Anniversary model earlier this month, when Ford revealed it at this year's New York Auto Show.

When it comes to transmissions, the Mustang will come standard with a 6-speed manual, while a 6-speed automatic will be optional for $1,195 extra. Other big-ticket options include Recaro seats for $1,595, and for GT models, a limited-slip rear end for better acceleration. That feature is expected to add $395 to the car's base price. The 2015 Mustang will also be the first Mustang to offer adaptive cruise control, which costs $1,195 extra.

But maybe the most exciting upgrade is a $1,995 option dubbed the EcoBoost Performance package. While Ford has not yet announced what this package will include, we have high hopes, especially since it seems like it will give the 4-cylinder Mustang an especially sporty flair. A high-performance version of the 4-cylinder Mustang makes sense, given how enjoyable the powerplant is in Ford's Focus ST hot hatch.

Beyond the new option package, other new details include available colors (there are 10) and finalized pricing for the 50th Anniversary model. The limited-production Mustang is expected to add $1,595 to the price of a GT, with the extra cost primarily consisting of a few unique exterior touches and high-end interior stitching.

If you're interested in the 2015 Mustang, you'll have to wait a little longer before you can get behind the wheel; the sports car will reach dealers in the fall.

What it means to you: The 2015 Ford Mustang will offer some exciting options, and we're eager to hear more about them as the sports car draws closer to launching.
