2015 Lincoln Navigator Receives Refreshed Design and EcoBoost Engine

  • Refreshed styling inside and out
  • More powerful EcoBoost V6 engine
  • New, top-of-the-range Reserve trim

Lincoln announced a refreshed design and a new powerplant for its large and luxurious 3-row SUV. The 2015 Lincoln Navigator receives refreshed interior and exterior styling along with a new, turbocharged EcoBoost engine. Also available is the top-trim Reserve package that adds more features to an already well-equipped model. The updated Navigator arrives in dealer showrooms later this year.

Lincoln will continue to offer both standard- and extended-length versions along with a choice of rear- or 4-wheel drive.

The 2015 Navigator is distinguished from its predecessor by Lincoln’s split-wing grille, flanked by standard HID headlights and LED running lights. At the rear, the redesign is reflected in new LED taillights. Standard 20-inch wheels replace the 18-in wheels on the base version of the outgoing, 2014 model.

Inside the 2015 Navigator, the look is mostly unchanged. But closer examination reveals new features, including proximity key with push-button start, power lift gate and puddle lamps. Also standard is the latest version of SYNC with MyLincoln Touch, the brand’s infotainment system that includes an 8-in touchscreen and LCD displays in the instrument panel.

Under the hood, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 replaces the V8, bringing more power and, according to Lincoln, greater efficiency. Official fuel economy estimates, though, have not been announced. The improvement in output over the V8 is significant. With 370 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, the EcoBoost motor bests the V8 by 60 hp and 65 lb-ft. The current 6-speed automatic transmission carries over.

Lincoln expects those figures to lend the Navigator best-in-class towing capability. That achievement is likely helped by a standard self-leveling rear suspension or an optional adaptive suspension that includes Comfort, Sport and Normal modes.

The newly available Reserve package brings more luxury, adding 22-in polished wheels, chrome exterior trim, Ziricote wood interior trim, and upgraded leather for the dash, console and all three rows of seats.

With stiff competition from a completely redesigned Cadillac Escalade coming soon, Lincoln chose the right time to sharpen the Navigator with new styling and features. The 2015 Lincoln Navigator goes into production later this year, and is expected to arrive in dealer showrooms this fall.

What it means to you: Shoppers looking for a 3-row luxury SUV will have to wait until later this year to get the refreshed, EcoBoost-powered 2015 Lincoln Navigator. In the meantime, brands such as Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz offer similar models to consider.
