- The all-new Cadillac XT5 has been officially revealed
- XT5 will replace Cadillac’s popular SRX crossover
- Cadillac hasn’t released many details ahead of the SUV’s full unveiling in November
An all-new replacement for Cadillac’s popular SRX crossover has been officially unveiled. Dubbed the XT5, Cadillac’s latest crossover boasts a totally new look, but other details about the SUV haven’t been confirmed.
On the outside, the new XT5 offers dramatic changes compared to the current SRX. While sizing roughly stays the same, the crossover’s appearance boasts a modernized look with Cadillac’s latest front-end treatment, a new grille and sharper lines. Drivers familiar with the SRX will have no trouble distinguishing the XT5 from its predecessor.
Unfortunately, that’s basically all we can say about the new XT5, as Cadillac hasn’t revealed any details about its coming crossover. The SUV is scheduled to receive a full unveiling at the Dubai International Motor Show in November, where we expect Cadillac to show off the interior and reveal what’s under the hood.
Until then, we can only speculate. Some sources say the XT5 will offer a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder as standard equipment, with the SRX’s current 3.6-liter V6 confined to the options list. Others suggest there might be a hybrid variant to rival high-end hybrid crossovers such as the Lexus RX 450h and the Infiniti QX60 Hybrid.
Meanwhile, we expect the XT5’s cabin to boast a wide range of new features, technology and styling, as we’ve come to expect from every automotive redesign.
What about the name change? The XT5 is Cadillac’s first model to receive the brand’s new corporate nomenclature, which will help buyers distinguish its size relative to other Cadillac models. A larger XT7 is reportedly in the works, while car models, currently dubbed the ATS, CTS and XTS, are expected to receive names beginning with the letters CT followed by a number.
We’ll have more details about the new XT5 as Cadillac announces them when the SUV is fully revealed in Dubai.
