Autotrader Find: 1981 Lincoln Mark VI With 22,000 Miles

If you’re looking for a luxury car from the old days, this 1981 Lincoln Mark VI might be just the thing you’re after. It’s a famous land yacht — a massive luxury coupe from the days when Lincoln actually built massive luxury coupes. But unlike most land yachts, which have lived long and neglected lives, this particular example is in fantastic condition and has traveled just 22,000 miles from new.

First, the basics: This 1981 Mark VI has a black exterior and a beige leather interior. It also features a power-starved V8 and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Despite its massive size, the interior is surprisingly stunted, which is largely due to the huge engine area and the massive trunk. It’s an absolute relic from a bygone era — and many car enthusiasts are thankful for this fact.

And yet, it seems there are enthusiasts for all vehicles, including these. The 1981 Mark VI has a cult following of car people who obsess over its land yacht qualities, despite its abysmal performance, massive size and horrible fuel economy. This particular example is one of the nicest I’ve seen in years, perhaps decades, with surprisingly little wear inside and out.

If you’re interested, this Mark VI is offered by RK Motors in Charlotte for $32,900, which is big money for a Mark VI — though I suspect this is the nicest one you’ll find. It’s a special car … if you’re into that. Find a Lincoln Mark VI for sale
