The Mercedes-Benz SL has always been an icon — and many people especially love the “R107” model, which was sold throughout the 1970s and 1980s and retains the classic Mercedes-Benz look. This particular SL is one of the nicest “R107” models around: a 1982 380SL with just 6,300 original miles, offered for sale by a private seller in Orange County, California.
The details on this SL are quite interesting. The advertisement notes that it’s an all-original, one-owner car that’s only had its tires replaced — though the ad doesn’t get into why it’s barely been driven over the last 36 years. The ad does point out that the soft top has never been used, and that the car has been garaged with a cover, only adding to its pristine condition.
And, indeed, a glance at the photos shows that the SL is very much pristine. Finished in a cream white with a beige leather interior, this SL shows very few signs of wear — exactly what you’d expect for a car that’s been stashed away for so long.
Just how long? According to the Carfax report, this SL had accumulated 5,200 miles by July 1990 — meaning it’s traveled just 1,100 miles in the 28 years since. It features a 3.8-liter V8 engine, which makes about 150 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, and it’s currently offered for sale for $32,950. That’s big money for an “R107” SL, but likely reasonable for this particular example, given its amazing condition.
