Autotrader Find: 1991 Geo Storm GSi With Only 46,000 Miles

The days of finding clean Geo Storms for sale are mainly gone, except for this one, which is currently listed on Autotrader with only 46,000 miles. This is a 1991 Geo Storm GSi listed by a private seller in Columbus, Ohio, and it’s offered for just $2,795 — not a bad deal for the finest model ever to wear a Geo badge. See the Geo Storm models for sale near you

For those of you who don’t know the Storm, allow me to provide a little background. The Geo Storm debuted for the 1990 model year, and it was offered in two body styles: There was a coupe with a liftback, like the one above, and there was a full hatchback called the Storm Wagonback. The Storm Wagonback was tremendously rare then and is now absolutely impossible to find; it doesn’t help that it was only sold in 1991 and 1992, compared to 1990-1993 like the normal Storm.

The Storm offered two versions, both of which used 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engines. The regular base-level Storm models had just 95 horsepower, which wasn’t anything close to sporty, even by the standards of the time, but the sporty "GSi" version offered 130 hp from the same engine. Beginning in 1992, the GSi got a larger 1.8-liter engine with 140 hp.

Maybe the most interesting thing about the Storm is that it was built in Japan by Isuzu, which was (and still is) partially owned by General Motors. The Storm had a slightly revised twin called the Isuzu Impulse, which was sold in the U.S. for about the same time period as the Storm — but the big difference was that Isuzu offered a turbocharged engine in the Impulse, which was good for up to 160 hp.

As the Storm died off, and as few people thought to preserve them, few Storm models have ended up like the one linked here. Yes, it’s an automatic, but this may be your last chance to corner the Geo Storm market. Find a Geo Storm for sale
