I've seen a lot of off-road builds in my time as an automotive enthusiast with Internet access. I've never really seen one like this. This is a 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser that can be converted into, basically, a house. I am not kidding.

Let's start with the particulars. This is a 1993 80-series Toyota Land Cruiser with 260,000 miles offered by a private seller in El Paso, Texas, for $25,000. Old Land Cruisers can be worth big money, but $25,000 seems high -- until you start to check out the details of this particular Land Cruiser.

For example: In the very first photo of this vehicle uploaded to Autotrader, you'll notice ... a house. I'm not kidding. There's a ladder, there are several windows, there's a nice awning, and there's a rather large front porch. This vehicle is its own mobile house, with a rooftop tent and a retractable porch that you can stick outside. I honestly wonder what the total square footage of this thing is when it's reached its final form.

Beyond the house-ness of this Land Cruiser, there are an enormous number of off-roader items. There's a rear-mounted spare tire, sliders for off-road rock crawling, more muscular front and rear bumpers, a snorkel for fording water, a rather serious roof rack setup, and what appears to be camouflage on the seats. With this truck, it seems, you could truly go anywhere -- and then you could sit on your retractable front porch and enjoy it.

Interestingly, the owner of this truck says he or she has invested over $100,000 in it, which is an enormous amount of money to put into a '93 Land Cruiser. Then again, the current owner has had it for 12 years and -- according to the Carfax report -- driven it more than 100,000 miles in that time, with occasional Carfax hits in odd places such as Virginia and Arizona. Surely the current owner has enjoyed it -- front porch and all.
