You're currently looking at a 1997 Subaru Impreza with just 3,800 miles. I'm just as baffled by this as you are, and I'm used to finding these weird low-mileage older cars on Autotrader. But this is surely one of the most unusual in existence, simply because it's such a weird car to preserve -- and because the miles are just so low.

First, let's talk particulars: This is a 1997 Impreza in the 2-door coupe body style, which is something Subaru used to offer in the Impreza until 2001. It's an all-wheel-drive model (some early Impreza models on this body style weren't), and it's a relatively basic version, with a hole in the center control stack where an additional music player would've gone if you had sprung for it. With that said, it does have an automatic transmission, which would've been a pricey option in 1997.

But the equipment isn't the unusual thing about this Impreza -- that honor, of course, goes to the miles. The Carfax report shows that it was sold new in June 1997 to an owner in Santa Barbara, California, and that it had done 3,170 miles by June 2001. That means this Impreza has traveled fewer than 700 miles in the last 17 years, which is unusual for even exotics like the Ferrari F40 and Enzo. This car was preserved like a top-quality exotic sports car -- except … it's a Subaru.

It's currently listed for sale by 405 Motors near Seattle, which appears to have acquired it last year after it left the original owner. It's listed for $8,995, which is actually a bit of a bargain when you consider that it's basically a new car -- just without the warranty. And, uh, with a cassette player. But if you long for the days of older Subaru models, this car lets you have them back.
