Today’s Autotrader Find is a pretty cool-looking movie replica with an affordable price tag. It’s a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer with the appearance of the Lancer Evo that co-starred in the 2003 film 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Not a Real Evo
This Lancer is neither as fast, nor as furious as the movie prop it’s based on. The car in the movie was an Evo, but the one you see here is an OZ Rally model with the same naturally aspirated 4G94 inline-four engine as the rest of the non-Evo Lancer lineup making 120 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Mechanically, it’s a pretty normal Lancer, but aesthetically, it’s anything but normal. According to the listing, the current owner had the original yellow paint stripped and the car was repainted and had graphics applied to make it look like the car from the movie.
The hood, front grille, and front bumper have been replaced giving the car a much more aggressive look. The rest of the bodywork looks pretty stock for an OZ Rally Lancer. On top of the graphics, the trunk has “EVOLUTION VII” badging. It can be your little secret that it’s not really an Evo.
Budget-Friendly Movie Replica
One advantage of not being an Evo is an affordable price tag. This car is for sale in Minot, North Dakota with a modest asking price of $4,995. That makes this one of the most interesting-looking sub-$5k cars for sale on Autotrader. Unfortunately, you won’t win any street races against Nissan Skylines or Honda S2000s. But, you’ll have what might be the coolest-looking Lancer in North Dakota. Find a Mitsubishi Lancer for sale
