Here's a car that's rather scary: a 2000 Dodge Viper GTS with more than 700 horsepower. This car is very dangerous. This car will probably crash if you even have a discussion with your friends about the idea of driving it. You should probably not buy this car. But you can if you want, because it's listed on Autotrader for $55,000.

Here's the situation with this one: It's not just a regular 2000 Viper GTS, but rather a Viper GTS King Snake, which was apparently created by a company called TNT Motorsports. Now, I can't tell you I know a lot about Viper tuning, but what I can tell you is that this thing was reported, when it was new, to have 777 horsepower. As many of you know, I own one of these with 450 horsepower, and that seems dangerous enough.

Here's why: The Viper has no stability control, no traction control, no anti-lock brakes, and it has airbags only to satisfy the federal requirement. It's rear-wheel-drive, the hood is enormously long and you have to know what you're doing to get behind the wheel of a normal one ... let alone one that has 777 horsepower. Really, you should not buy this Viper. You can't handle it.

But the good news is, in our world, you can pretty much buy whatever you want regardless of your talent level, as long as you can afford it. So this 777-horsepower Viper can be yours if you choose to purchase it from its private seller in Dunlap, Illinois -- a small town near Peoria -- who is asking $55,000. That price seems reasonable considering the performance, and also considering the fact that this car has traveled just 6,600 miles in its 17-year life -- likely because the owner is too scared to drive it. I know I would be.
