As you might expect, there are a lot of pickup trucks listed for sale on Autotrader. As you also might expect, most of them don’t have giant camper shells on the back. But this one does. It’s a 2013 Ram 3500 Dually, and it’s ready to take you and your family anywhere you want to go (as long as “anywhere you want to go” has some good height clearance), thanks to its Eagle Cap.
Here’s the deal with this one: This is your fairly standard, run-of-the-mill 2013 Ram 3500 Dually, painted in black with a black interior and Uconnect, and all the other stuff you’d expect in a 2013 Ram 3500. But it’s only covered 10,189 miles, and the selling dealer is offering it with this giant camper shell, likely because it was traded in that way.
Unfortunately, this has a pretty substantial impact on the price: Schrier Automotive in Omaha is offering this Ram 3500 is for $89,500, which is a lot more expensive than most 2013 Ram 3500 models. But the Eagle Cap isn’t exactly free, and it looks massive. In fact, it sticks out beyond the Ram itself, which is no easy feat given how insanely large these Dually trucks are.
Sadly, although Schrier Automotive did an excellent job documenting the condition of the truck, there are no photographs of the interior of the Eagle Cap. So we can only assume what’s in there, and I personally am going to assume it contains a hot tub, or at least a small swimming pool. That is, after all, what I would want to include in my Eagle Cap.
Anyway, the point here is that you can buy a vehicle on Autotrader for all your camping needs, and you probably should, because who doesn’t want a nice Eagle Cap? I mean, come on. The things have hot tubs in them. Find a Ram 3500 for sale

When I was a kid in Colorado, we used to call smaller versions of this type of camper a “cowboy camper”. They were the preferred method of housing cowboys when they were out on the range. They were a compromise at best, because the sort of off-road locations they worked at during the grazing season were something that you couldn’t get an RV or a 5th wheel campers out to. It was either this, or a tent.
For $90k I can buy a 2013 Ram 3500 and a very nice 5th wheel camper with his and hers hot tubs.
You can pull a 5th wheel with a 2500 .. this camper is the dumbest thing I’ve seen on here!
This feels like a repo. I can’t believe thebuyer(I guess seller) of the truck/camper would get a remotely fair deal for this as a trade in. The truck sure, but I wonder how the dealer estimated the market on a truck/camper combo.
Seems a bit steep without finding the exact right buyer, but these campers are not cheap (Used in the $40k range)…not hot tub, but literally everything else you need to live including an onboard generator, heat, aircon, full bath, full kitchen, dinette, queen or king bed.
