If you know the Lincoln MKT, you know it’s a bit of a rare vehicle — Lincoln’s luxury version of the Ford Flex, with unusual styling to match. But while the MKT is certainly odd, its strangeness goes up exponentially here: this is a 2016 Lincoln MKT Hearse, and you can buy it.
This MKT Hearse is offered by Highland Park Ford in the Chicago suburbs, and it’s precisely what it sounds like: a Lincoln MKT that has been converted into a hearse. In order to make the MKT into a hearse, the rear end was extended, the rear seats were removed and the entire interior received a luxurious makeover, with Lincoln-branded lighting fixtures and fine wood trim.
Interestingly, the MKT body style already lends itself well to the hearse look, and it doesn’t look as radically weird as you might expect it to when a normal car is turned into a hearse. In fact, this particular MKT is sort of the ultimate wagon, with a side-hinged back door — though you’d have to do some extensive interior work to make the back usable again, given the lack of seats.
While the obvious place for this MKT is another funeral home, where it can go back to hearse duty, I smile when I consider the idea of it being purchased elsewhere, by another firm, and used for another purpose — a weird version of a weird car serving as a delivery vehicle, for instance, or transporting other materials.
If you want to use this MKT Hearse for that, or as a hearse, it’s offered with just 12,000 miles for a sticker price of $61,995 — more than a regular MKT, but likely far less than it would cost to buy an MKT and have it converted into a hearse. Find a Lincoln MKT for sale
