Autotrader Find: Armored Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG for $375,000

Today’s Autotrader Find is one of the most ultimate SUVs imaginable: a Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG, which uses a twin-turbocharged V12 with 610 horsepower and 740 lb-ft of torque. As if that wasn’t ultimate enough, it was then fully armored. Yes, that’s right, armored, as in "bulletproof." And then it received the ultimate price tag: $375,000.

Let’s start with the beginning: the G65 AMG. You likely already know the regular V8-powered G550, and the "sporty" G63 AMG, but this takes things to a whole new level. It’s the G65 AMG — and not only does it use that ultra-powerful twin-turbocharged V12, but it returns just 11 miles per gallon in the city and 13 mpg on the highway, which is the worst fuel economy figure of any car on sale today — except for the Bugatti Chiron, which returns 9 mpg city/14 mpg hwy.

But surely this particular G65 AMG gets far worse mileage than the Chiron on account of the fact that, well, it’s armored. Yes, armored, by "the most reputable and prestigious Alpine Armoring company in Herndon, Virginia," according to the description. Although the ad doesn’t say exactly what armoring has been done, it does note the armoring cost $195,000 — and it shows incredibly thick door windows, fully armored side windows in back, and red and blue strobe lights, like a police car. Needless to say, this is the ultimate SUV with the ultimate armoring.

And, apparently, the ultimate price tag. This G65 AMG is offered by Specialty Car Collection in Los Angeles for $375,000, which is just immensely massive money. But, then again, a brand-new G65 starts at $221,000 — and it doesn’t have any armoring. Plus, this one has only covered 3,600 miles, meaning it’s barely broken in. Find a used Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG for sale

  1. It’s in Los Angeles, you know they’re trying to pander to drug lords that need to zip back and forth between LA and Mexico. I wonder how bad the 0-60 is with all of that armor… It’s 5.3s for the regular G65.

  2. Isn’t the use of red & blue lights against the law for regular civilian vehicles in most places?  You know, impersonating a police officer and all that?

  3. Dougcar!? I can see the video now…”this is an armored G65. MY G65. And now I’m going to shoot it for your viewing pleasure.”
