I went searching for the strangest Ford Mustang on Autotrader, and, well, I believe I've found it. Behold, this custom-designed 1989 Ford Mustang -- which started life as a coupe and is now a rather odd-looking convertible.

Offered for $18,999 by Rockstar Motorcars in Nashville, Tennessee, this Fox Body Mustang is painted silver with a giant blue racing stripe -- and intense customization on virtually every panel. It looks longer and wider than a standard '89 Mustang, the roof has been chopped off, and there are a number of other exterior upgrades all around the car. Then there's the interior, which has been given a full gloss-black dashboard treatment, racing seats, a new steering wheel and other revisions.

So what exactly is this Mustang? Although the listing describes it as "one of six," it doesn't actually mention who built it or which "six" it's "one of." It does, however, mention a custom-built 360-horsepower V8, an upgraded suspension, and many of the interior and exterior changes I mentioned. The result is that this Mustang might be fast -- and it's certain to turn heads.

As for this Mustang's history, the mileage is certainly a question, as it bounces around a bit on the Carfax report. The last reported reading was 159,000 in July 1999, followed by a 9-year gap on the Carfax where nothing happens. The listing says this build was "completed in 2003," which accounts for some -- but not all -- of that time.

Whether or not this car is unusual isn't open for debate. Whether it's worth $18,999 is up to you. As for right now, if you're like me, you'll want to stare at all the photos to see all the details on this rather unusual custom Mustang.
