In the Ferrari world, rarer is, of course, better. Rarer cars are more valuable, they're more sought-after, they're more desirable. Rarer cars command huge premiums. This is one of the rarest cars.

The car pictured above is a 2005 Ferrari 575M Superamerica, which already makes it one of the rarest modern Ferrari models. Ferrari never makes regular production convertible versions of their V12-powered exotic cars, instead saving the open-roof versions for ultra-rare special editions sold only to their most loyal customers. The Superamerica is a great example of that, as Ferrari says they sold a mere 559 of these in the entire world.

But that's not what makes this car so rare. What makes this car so rare is the item installed between the seats: A gated shifter and a 6-speed manual transmission -- a true manual with three pedals, not the kind of manual where it's listed as a manual and you click the pictures, and it turns out to be a paddle-shift F1 automatic. This is the real deal -- and it's one of just 43 stick-shift Superamericas manufactured for the entire planet, and supposedly one of just 17 built for the United States. Like I said, one of the rarest cars.

Naturally, this car is in high demand, so its value is through the roof: It's offered with just under 12,000 miles by Miller Motorcars, the Ferrari dealership in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the asking price is $699,900 -- far more than the car sold for when it was new 12 years ago. But this asking price is very much in line with other sales of stick-shift 575M Superamerica models, and it'll likely be bolstered by the fact that this is undoubtedly one of the only stick-shift Superamerica models in Ferrari's traditional colors of Rosso Corsa over tan leather.

It'll be interesting to see how this one goes -- and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes fast.
