Have you ever thought the Ford F-150 Raptor was just a little too boring? Not exciting, aggressive or cool enough? Of course you haven’t — no one has. The Raptor is one of the coolest cars on the road. And yet, this is cooler: a 6-wheel-drive version of the Raptor.
It’s called the Hennessey VelociRaptor, and it’s exactly as I’ve just described it: a Ford F-150 Raptor with six wheels. This particular example is currently listed for sale on Autotrader at Luxury Auto Collection in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale, Arizona, with no asking price included — but we can guess it’ll be expensive. After all, it isn’t cheap to stretch a vehicle and add two extra wheels, as we discovered with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
But what exactly is this thing? Well, it’s officially dubbed the "VelociRaptor 6×6," and it’s truly a 6-wheel drive pickup — not just a pickup with six wheels, to be clear, but an actual vehicle with 6-wheel drive. It has lifted suspension compared to the standard Raptor, larger tires and also features a twin-turbocharger upgrade for around 600 horsepower — not that you’d ever be able to verify that figure, given the fact that you’d need a 6-wheel drive dyno to check it out.
According to the website of Hennessey, a well-known tuner in Texas, the VelociRaptor 6×6 starts at $349,000 — which is, of course, a huge sum of money. One can only assume that this slightly used 2017 model is a bit cheaper, though it’s covered only 1,150 miles — and it’s available immediately, unlike VelociRaptor models made by Hennessey, which have to go through their build process. As a result, I suspect this thing isn’t exactly cheap — but, then again, it’s one of the coolest trucks on the road. Find a Ford F-150 for sale
