Autotrader Find: Lamborghini LM002

Earlier today, I asked you if the Lamborghini LM002 was in fact the very first high-performance SUV, and I laid out my case for why it’s actually something else, something different, something completely removed from the norm. If you weren’t convinced, then maybe a more thorough tour of the LM002 will do — and you can get that, right now, because there’s one for sale on Autotrader.

Yes, that’s right: Lamborghini’s craziest creation ever is currently listed on Autotrader. It’s available for sale at Interstate Motorsport in Pennington, New Jersey, with just 10,505 miles and an impressive asking price: $399,988. That’s big money — but then again, when are you going to find another one? See the Lamborghini LM002 models for sale near you

For a little refresher, only about 300 different LM002 models were manufactured in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Featuring full-time 4-wheel drive and a half-pickup bed, the LM002 used a 7.2-liter V12 that Wikipedia says is "more commonly found in offshore powerboats." Horsepower was said to be roughly 444, while 0-to-60 acceleration was a shade under 8 seconds. Most importantly, there’s the curb weight: an unbelievable 5,972 pounds, in an era when the Toyota Camry weighed in at just 2,700 pounds.

This particular LM002 is especially interesting because the listing says it’s one of just 48 American editions, while many other North American LM002s were slotted for the rest of the world and privately imported. The listing also says this particular LM002 comes with all tools and the original owner’s manual and further notes the truck is a "multiple trophy winner." And I’m sure it deserved every one of those trophies. Find a Lamborghini LM002 for sale

  1. unlimited mileage warranty available for this one?  I can’t even imagine taking these into a Jiffy Lube one day or having a crack on a windshield and finding a replacement part…

  2. When you slow down for speed bumps in your (name your rediculously low sports car here)  this thing could just drive right over your car without slowing down.  Love it.  Want it.

  3. If I’m remembering my Jay Leno’s garage viewing correctly,  it is impossible to find tires for this anymore,  as in “they don’t make them anymore and there is no back stock”. I’m but a collector, but that seems like a problem.
