See? I told you old SUVs are becoming more and more valuable. And there’s no greater proof than this particular old SUV: the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, a wood-sided icon, one of the founders of the luxury SUV movement, whose asking prices are now reaching into "new luxury SUV" territory.
For proof, check out this 1988 Grand Wagoneer offered by Jim Babish Auto Sales in rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Among the nicest Grand Wagoneers I’ve ever seen, this particular model — painted burgundy (with wood panels) over a dark red interior — is offered for a whopping $49,900. That’s far more than these things ever sold for back in 1988. See the 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer models for sale near you
But then again, if there was ever going to be a Grand Wagoneer worth that kind of money, it would probably be this one. Although Jim Babish hasn’t uploaded any interior pictures, the exterior shots make this ’88 Grand Wagoneer look like a true time capsule — with no dings, or dents, or scrapes, and with the original warning label on the fuel cap.
More importantly, this Grand Wagoneer has traveled just 51,676 miles since it was originally sold new in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 15, 1988. That probably makes it one of the lowest-mileage Grand Wagoneers still left — and certainly among the lowest-mileage models on Autotrader. In other words: If you want a perfect example of the grandfather of the luxury SUV, this might just be as close as you’re ever going to get. Find a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer for sale
